Everybody in this world wants perfect health in order to live a healthy and peaceful life. No matter how rich you are or how educated you are, everyone equally thinks positively about maintaining good health. Whenever you experience bad health, you see a doctor. You go through a medical process of medications or treatment in order to get healthy because it’s your right and you need to live a healthy life. Like we need food and sleep for living, the same way, good health is essential for a peaceful existence.
I believe that good health isn’t only a right but it’s your duty as well to maintain your health. When you become ill, it means you failed somewhere to protect your health. So, it’s equally your responsibility to safeguard your well-being. Let me bring the cause and effect theory into this discussion. You got ill, that’s the effect. As a result, you see a doctor to cure it. You were careless somewhere, so you became ill. That’s the cause of your illness. To eradicate the effect, we must first eradicate the cause.
Our focus in this blog is on the cause, not just treating the effect. I want to bring an extremely popular phrase to your attention, which is directly relevant to our subject: ‘Prevention is better than cure’. It looks so simple and familiar to us, yet it is remarkably effective. That’s why I mentioned in my previous blog that the simplest things are the most important things in the world, and interestingly, simple things are difficult to practice as well. Anyway, let’s move straight to our main subject. I’m going to discuss two critical factors which are extremely important to protect your health, and it’s your duty to follow them in your life.
How our body functions
The first important thing in order to protect your health is to become aware of your body’s functionality. I mean to say that we all must know what the functions of our body parts are and how they function. Whatever work you are doing, you must have basic knowledge of how our body works. I don’t think it’s a tough job regardless of your education level. You could gain basic knowledge easily even if you are illiterate. In this digital age, we have lots of video and audio facilities, which are easy to access and available in our native languages. Even in casual social discussions, we can gain general information about body functions.
Body functions refer to what and how our body parts work. It includes general information like where our food goes after consuming it, what’s the process of food digestion, and how much time it takes to digest food. What’s the best time for eating and where exactly our digestive organs are located in our body? Similarly, you must know what is the best way of sleeping and how many hours are considered ideal for proper rest. You should also understand what could be the possible symptoms of eyes and ears pain and how you could prevent them. Likewise, understand what could cause neck and back pain. More importantly, recognize how your thoughts play a part in your good health. What to think and how to think for a healthy living—because your mind plays a crucial role in determining whether you experience good or bad health. There are many more possibilities to learn about health. Therefore, try to learn those aspects which have the most impact on your life.
Choice of food
Along with understanding body parts, you must have a general idea of the food you eat. In general, we take care of the nutritional content of any food item—like how much protein, carbohydrate, and fat a food item has. But we often ignore the agricultural aspect, such as how many days pulses take to grow in a field, what fertilizers people use in growing food, or how these vary region-wise. We should have an idea about these factors so we can choose the best foods to eat.
If you are using packaged food, you must read the contents section on the packet and match it with the nutritional requirements of your body. Adding to this, you could look further to check the vessels and appliances in which you cook food. My particular concern is the type of metal vessel in which you cook food. Just find out which type of vessel is perfect under what conditions. Developing a

Concluding Part
In this blog, I’ve only told you what could be matters of concern for perfect health. Now, it’s your responsibility to find the best solutions and alternatives in order to achieve perfect health. I wish to write more and explain the options for good food in my other blogs. Apart from these factors, there are many more which you could explore yourself. From now onwards, remember this: if you’re in your old age, it doesn’t mean you deserve to suffer from bad health. If you’re young, now is the time to work toward perfect health, and it only comes when you have the right knowledge and commitment to your well-being.

What does it mean that perfect health is both a right and a duty?
Perfect health is your right because you deserve to live a healthy, peaceful life free from unnecessary suffering. It’s your duty because you’re responsible for making the choices and taking the actions necessary to maintain your well-being. This means both the society has an obligation to support your health, and you have a personal obligation to protect it through proper nutrition, exercise, sleep, and mental wellness.
How important is it to understand how my body functions?
Understanding how your body functions is absolutely critical because this knowledge empowers you to make informed health decisions. When you know how digestion works, how much sleep you need, what causes certain pains, and how your mind affects your body, you can prevent problems before they start. This knowledge is the foundation of the ‘prevention is better than cure’ principle.
What is the relationship between nutrition and perfect health?
Nutrition is fundamental to achieving and maintaining perfect health. The food you eat directly impacts your energy levels, immune function, mental clarity, and physical strength. By being aware of what you eat, understanding its nutritional content, and knowing where it comes from, you can make conscious choices that support your body’s needs and protect your long-term well-being.
How does the 'cause and effect' approach help with health?
The cause and effect approach shifts your focus from just treating symptoms (effect) to identifying and addressing root causes. For example, instead of just taking medicine for headaches, you investigate what’s causing them—poor sleep, stress, bad posture, or dehydration. By eliminating the cause, you eliminate the problem permanently, which is far more effective than repeatedly treating the symptom.
Is it too late to achieve perfect health if I'm older?
Absolutely not. While it’s true that starting early is beneficial, it’s never too late to improve your health. People of all ages can benefit from better nutrition, appropriate physical activity, quality sleep, stress management, and mental wellness practices. Your age is not a limitation; your commitment to making positive changes is what matters. Start where you are with what you know, and gradually incorporate healthier habits.
