Sunil Dabas, Coach of National Female Kabbadi team of India is the first female coach of India awarded by Dronacharya and Padma Shri Awards by Government of India.

Sunil Dabas belongs to a ordinary farmer family and was brought up in orthodox society of small village of Jhajjar district, Haryana. Where a girl is not even allowed to pursue higher education. Her district is placed at bottom in terms of sex ratio.

She completed her schooling at her native village. She pursued her M.A and Master of physical education from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Thereafter she did her M.phil from Kurukshetra University and PHD in sports psychology from Agra University.

She has been coaching National Female Kabbadi team since 2005. Her team has won 7 gold medals in international championships including women’s Kabbadi World Cup in 2012.

She is working as associate professor and Head of Department at Dronacharya Government PG college, Gurguram.

She was awarded Dronacharya Award in 2012 for excellence in Sports Coaching and Padma Shri, the fourth civilian award of India in 2014 by Government Of India.

Government of Haryana felicitated her with Sports Women Achiever Award.

Sunil Dabas has been breaking gender barriers since 2005. Her achievement encourage other girls from small villages to step forward and chase their dreams.
